IMG_1235.JPG - The spadefoot toad is well adapted to the ephemeral nature of  the Province Land slacks and pools.  Within a few weeks of the eggs being laid, the juveniles (metamorphs) have left the tadpole stage and are no longer dependent on a watery environment.  They now will feed on invertebrates within the dunes.
