Poster Outreach Project by Treefrog Educational
The Poster Outreach Project is a multi-disciplinary research, writing, art, & community outreach activity for elementary and middle school classes.

The Poster Outreach Project combines research, authentic writing, creative thinking, and art to produce a poster for you to display in your community. The collected efforts of your students in studying a curriculum become a cohesive poster which illustrates your classroom progress and is informative to the public.

In this project, your class explores in depth an area of your curriculum. The students research the topic, discuss it as a theme in class, write about it, illustrate it, and peer edit their work. You provide us their text and illustrations and we produce a draft poster of your topic. You and your students edit and revise the draft and we then print several copies of the poster for you to display in your school and community.

Upon completion you receive five full size (approximatley 24" x 36") copies of your poster and sufficient 11" x 17" copies for each participant. The large posters are for the class to display in the classroom, school, Superintendent's Office, Town Library, and local businesses or other public areas. These posters provide a vehicle for your student’s work to be a teaching product for the public. These posters have been very well received by the public as both informative and as a positive indicator of classroom studies.

Each poster has a title block with information you provide and panels with student art and text. Alphabet posters have 26 panels, one for each letter. Other poster formats have between 12-30 panels as is appropriate to include all of your students or complete your theme. Since no poster is larger than 24” x 36”, the number of panels is limited so that each is large enough to display the art and text. The topic for the poster can be anything that is appropriate for your curriculum.

The cost to participate in the Poster Outreach Project is $350. For this fee, you receive email support throughout the project, a proof copy, return of your art, 5 laminated full-size posters, and smaller copies for each participant. The fee does not cover your local costs for materials OR mailing art and proofs to us. This cost is competitive with that of a field trip or having a specialist visit your class.
