Within two weeks of receiving everything from you (usually sooner), the draft poster will be mailed to you. Read the draft, check the student names, look over the panel titles and the title block. Email corrections, send back the corrected draft or do both. Additional proofs will be supplied as needed. Usually, all corrections can be handled by email which speeds the process. Within two weeks of receiving the final corrections, your completed posters will be on the way to you.
The time for the final printing is determined by the number and type of changes needed and how quickly you react to these. The "two week" period begins when you agree everything is okay with you. If you need the poster for a special school event, plan ahead, mail early, and keep in touch.
How We Assemble Your Poster
When the art arrives, it is scanned, panels are designed based on art colors, and the design for the panels is completed. A poster is designed and the panels are placed on the poster. When the text is available, it is dropped into the poster. The Title Block is then designed and added to the poster. If student names are on the border, they are now added. If they are on a panel, they were added when the panels were completed. If all components are here, a proof is printed and send it to you.
When we receive your complete corrections of the proof, a final poster is laid out and printed. Done! Final posters are sent to you.
The Proof
Many teachers share the proof with the students. They are quick to find mistakes on their name and sometimes their text. At least, the name problem is out of the way! Sharing the proof and asking for corrections does help to make this a group project.
Either correct the proof and return it or send email corrections. Email is preferred for timeliness. Please, do not just correct the original text file you sent earlier and resend it. Your corrections will not be obvious and if we just enter all of this text onto the poster (which we will do) any corrections we have already made (for other panels) will disappear and you will have additional mistakes.
Delivery of the Poster
Your copies of the poster and whatever else you might have requested will be sent by USPS or UPS as soon as possible after their completion.
Big Mistakes!
Even with extensive peer editing, proof reading, and proof sheets, errors do sometimes appear on the final posters. What happens if the final posters have errors?
We will have to work this out together. Errors you missed in proofs or in editing the proofs are yours. Errors we made in correcting proofs are ours. That said, your class is not a commercial author and we are not charging the price of a commercial publisher. We will try to make the project work for you.
Minor errors, such as typos, should probably be ignored. Misspelled or missing student names might be a problem. (Did the student sign off on the proof? You did.) A name problem might be solved with a corrected poster for the school display. Real big errors probably need to be corrected.
If we think the error is significant to your project, particularly if we are culpable in some way, we will reprint your posters. If the error is yours and it really causes a problem for the final poster, we will work with you to reach a suitable solution. There may be an additional cost. We will likely require that you show the "error posters" are destroyed by having you return the Title Block and a random panel from each poster.
"Mistake posters" have never been an issue for this project. For over ten years, all teachers have been pleased and impressed with their posters. There has never been a "poster recall".
