Vern L. Poole Stories

The Vernal Pool Association began as a outreach club at Reading (MA) Memorial High School in 1991. Many talented, creative, and dedicated individuals produced an amazing amount scientific and educational material.  For four years, Doug Cowel contributed clever sketches featuring his character Vern L. Poole in a variety of situations. Doug provided the art, situations and dialogue; the inking, coloring and explanatory text was by others. Enjoy some of the adventures of Vern.

"A Year in My Life" is a short graphic novel that is very popular and has been used in many classrooms. This is the story of spotted salamander migration and the development of larvae.
